Description

Piet Mondrian's influence on modern abstraction inspired Lindsey's Drop System, where she used brass tubing and glass globes to explore the balance between rigidity and fluidity. The custom-configurable fixture elegantly plays with vertical and horizontal elements while offering various finishes for a unique collection.

Lindsey Adelman has long been obsessed with illumination in all its forms. A light sculptor, her work treads the porous border between sculpture and design. In 2006, with the goal of transforming the ephemeral nature of light into something not merely tangible but enduring, she launched Lindsey Adelman Studio with her very first product, the Branching Bubble chandelier. Since then, she has explored the visual tension between organic and industrial forms in a number of disciplines, introducing boundary-challenging designs from an innovative palette of materials.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.

The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
