Designer Alexander Diaz Andersson
Le fondateur d'ATRA, Alexander Díaz Andersson, a grandi en Suède , a étudié en Espagne avant de déménager dans la péninsule du Yucatán , où il a commencé à expérimenter le mobilier.
Aujourd'hui situés à Mexico , les meubles, sculptures, intérieurs et projets d'hospitalité de Díaz Andersson sont définis par un équilibre étudié entre chaos et structure , fluidité et fonction.
Formé en design industriel , Díaz Andersson combine l'apprentissage académique avec les connaissances transmises par des artistes mentors expérimentés et l'énergie de l'exploration autodidacte . Sa pratique est à la fois intuitive et éclairée par une compréhension de l'histoire, des processus et des matériaux. Le principe directeur de Díaz Andersson est avant tout le plaisir .

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.
The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
