Description

Born of fire, volcanoes pulse with the Earth’s most primal force. Echoing this elemental energy, Volcano emerges in glass — itself a child of flame — blown into textures that evoke the rugged terrain where molten lava cools and hardens into stone.

From this scorched landscape, light arises like a glowing ember, casting shifting shadows and fiery reflections. Volcanospeaks in warm, vibrant tones — an ode to transformation, raw energy, and the unexpected beauty born from chaos.

In contrast to Frozen, its crystalline counterpart inspired by ice and stillness, Volcano whispers the mysteries of heat and rebirth, in a luminous dialogue between matter and memory.

Lasvit is a Czech design and glassmaking company founded in 2007 by Leon Jakimič, a native of Liberec in Northern Bohemia—a region with a rich, centuries-old glassmaking tradition. Coming from a family with six generations of glassmakers, Jakimič studied economics at Loyola Marymount University in California and later earned an MBA in Hong Kong. His vision was clear: to merge the historical craftsmanship of Bohemian glass with bold, contemporary design.

The name Lasvit combines the Czech words “láska” (love) and “svit” (light), encapsulating the brand’s mission to bring love and light into every creation.

Headquartered in Nový Bor, the heart of the Czech “Crystal Valley,” Lasvit revives and reimagines traditional glassmaking. The brand is internationally celebrated for its bespoke light installations, sculptural glass art, and lighting collections, collaborating with some of the world’s most acclaimed designers and architects—Zaha Hadid, Nendo, Kengo Kuma, the Campana Brothers, Patricia Urquiola, and Daniel Libeskind, among others.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.

The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
