“An embrace carved in wood”.

The Walnut Lounge Chair is more than a seat—it is an invitation to stillness, deep comfort, and quiet reflection. Sculpted from solid walnut, every line of its frame speaks of craftsmanship, intention, and reverence for natural materials.

Its generous, organic curves gently cradle the body, offering a silent embrace—warm, grounding, and reassuring. The rich walnut tones, with their natural depth and movement, bring a calm and noble presence to any space.

With a design rooted in minimalist and mid-century influences, this chair strikes a perfect balance between function and emotion, between timeless aesthetics and everyday comfort. It becomes an anchor within the room, a serene refuge filled with quiet poetry.

About Monolith :

Monolith is a Brooklyn-based design studio founded in 2022 by Marc Personick, a former digital interface designer turned furniture maker, driven by a passion for sculptural forms and brutalist aesthetics. The studio creates collectible furniture and objects that blur the line between functional design and contemporary art, celebrating the raw beauty of natural materials such as walnut, white oak, travertine, and volcanic stone.

Monolith’s debut collection, titled “Sanctuary,” was unveiled in 2023 at Zona Maco in Mexico City. The collection features nine bold, geometric pieces handcrafted by skilled artisans in both Mexico and New York. One of its standout works, the M_007 Lounge Chair, exemplifies the studio’s minimalist and architectural approach with its low-slung profile and refined joinery.

The studio also collaborates with international creatives, including London-based architect Benni Allan and Parisian duo Studio Le Cann, bringing a global perspective while staying true to its sculptural and grounded aesthetic.

Each Monolith piece is produced in limited editions, individually numbered and signed—reinforcing the studio’s commitment to craftsmanship, authenticity, and material integrity. The brand continues to evolve, exploring new techniques and expressions that invite a sensory dialogue between space, material, and form.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.

The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
