Description

The coffee table made of the precious Arabescato Griggio marble shaped by the French designer Arthur Vallin, invites us to contemplation.

Arabescato Orobico Grigio, also known as Breccia Orobica Rossa is a famous Italian marble, extracted in northern Italy. The quarries produce blocks of various sizes. Their production began around the 17th century, when this marble was used for floors of churches and palaces. This marble can also be used outdoors due to its great resistance.

French multi-disciplinary Creative Director Arthur Vallin holds a Master’s degree in Art Direction from the renowned design academy Penninghen.

In 2012 he joins Harley & Company as a partner in order to develop the creative department. He extended the design studio capabilities creating award-winning projects ranging from immersive experiences, digital re-invention, and campaigns.

Arthur’s collectible design line is a new way for him to experiment with shapes and materials.  He lives and works in New York, where he operates his design studio.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.

The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
