Lasvit is a Czech design and glassmaking company founded in 2007 by Leon Jakimič, a native of Liberec in Northern Bohemia—a region with a rich, centuries-old glassmaking tradition. Coming from a family with six generations of glassmakers, Jakimič studied economics at Loyola Marymount University in California and later earned an MBA in Hong Kong. His vision was clear: to merge the historical craftsmanship of Bohemian glass with bold, contemporary design.
The name Lasvit combines the Czech words “láska” (love) and “svit” (light), encapsulating the brand’s mission to bring love and light into every creation.
Headquartered in Nový Bor, the heart of the Czech “Crystal Valley,” Lasvit revives and reimagines traditional glassmaking. The brand is internationally celebrated for its bespoke light installations, sculptural glass art, and lighting collections, collaborating with some of the world’s most acclaimed designers and architects—Zaha Hadid, Nendo, Kengo Kuma, the Campana Brothers, Patricia Urquiola, and Daniel Libeskind, among others.
Since 2011, the company’s creative direction has been led by Maxim Velčovský, one of the Czech Republic’s most respected designers. His poetic and experimental approach has shaped many of Lasvit’s iconic pieces, including the Frozen collection, inspired by the moment water turns to ice.
Today, Lasvit operates globally, with over 350 employees and offices in 15 locations around the world—from Prague to Hong Kong. Its luminous creations illuminate luxury hotels, private residences, concert halls, and public spaces worldwide, earning Lasvit a place at the forefront of modern glass art and design.
