Description
The massive structure of teak wood, hand carved with great voids by craftsmen in bangalore, becomes a chair. with a lightness that is in contrast to the monolithic form, a cushion and mattress was given equal thought in its development. the roped straw pillow was created in the rural village of gadag in karnataka. originally, mooda was made for transportation within paddy fields. selected for its primitive aesthetics that complement the carved chair and daybed, the cushions give the illusion of being a haphazard bed of straw but are in fact meticulously crafted to perfectly fill the voids.
Designed by Valériane Lazard for æquō, and inspired by Bedsa's sectional drawings, this massive teak wood chair, hand-carved by artisans from Bangalore. The Bedsa chair combines a monolithic appearance and large voids to accommodate a cushion that has been the subject of particular reflection and design.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.

The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
