Description

“Ritual forms rooted in the earth”.

The KUMANEC Vase Set takes its name and inspiration from the traditional Ukrainian kumanec—a ceremonial jug once used in ancestral rituals, symbolizing hospitality, heritage, and sacred connection.

Hand-sculpted from living clay, each vase features a generous, archetypal silhouette, as if drawn from an ancient past. Their presence is ritualistic, almost spiritual—every curve and volume carries the collective memory of the land and the hands that shaped it.

Victoria Yakusha is an architect, designer, and artist born in 1982 in Dnipro, Ukraine. She is the originator of the concept of "living design," a creative philosophy deeply rooted in the earth, nature, and Ukrainian cultural traditions.

In 2007, she graduated from the Prydniprovska State Academy of Architecture and furthered her studies in France at the National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA). That same year, she founded her own architecture studio.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.

The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
