Description

Leaf is the latest wall light, born from an intimate fascination with the grace of leaves, their delicate veins, and their light structure. This piece was born last year, in the silence of lockdown, as a sensitive response to the need for nature. It was on their small London balcony, which had become a hanging garden and refuge, that this inspiration blossomed. Leaf is an ode to the simplicity of plants, a breath of greenery frozen in light.

Vezzini & Chen's work is an intimate dialogue where molded clay and blown glass intertwine, giving rise to creations bordering the functional and the sculptural. Their meeting at the Royal College of Art sealed an alliance of origins and passions, uniting Vezzini's ceramic hand with Chen's crystalline fluidity to create works of vibrant and interactive forms.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.

The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
