Description

Loomo reinterprets textile craftsmanship through lighting, capturing the essence of woven fabric’s structure. Featuring a circular glass panel, Loomo radiates soft, even light, creating an inviting and soothing atmosphere. The result is an imprint in the glass, a transparent fossil that captures the light within a delicate textile grid, revealing each detail with sophistication.

Designed by Lasvit’s Art Director, Maxim Velčovský, Loomo’s golden hue enhances its circular form, casting a gentle, ambient glow that complements a variety of design styles, from contemporary minimalism to eclectic chic.

Lasvit is a Czech design and glassmaking company founded in 2007 by Leon Jakimič, a native of Liberec in Northern Bohemia—a region with a rich, centuries-old glassmaking tradition. Coming from a family with six generations of glassmakers, Jakimič studied economics at Loyola Marymount University in California and later earned an MBA in Hong Kong. His vision was clear: to merge the historical craftsmanship of Bohemian glass with bold, contemporary design.

The name Lasvit combines the Czech words “láska” (love) and “svit” (light), encapsulating the brand’s mission to bring love and light into every creation.

Headquartered in Nový Bor, the heart of the Czech “Crystal Valley,” Lasvit revives and reimagines traditional glassmaking. The brand is internationally celebrated for its bespoke light installations, sculptural glass art, and lighting collections, collaborating with some of the world’s most acclaimed designers and architects—Zaha Hadid, Nendo, Kengo Kuma, the Campana Brothers, Patricia Urquiola, and Daniel Libeskind, among others.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.

The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
