Description
Inspired by the timeless grace of Etruscan adornments and the cherished intimacy of heirloom jewels, the Patty Sconce is a luminous relic—an artifact of memory cast in glass and brass.
A crescent of hand-blown Murano glass, delicate and opalescent, floats gently above a sequence of solid brass beads, like a celestial pendant suspended in time. Each element is a whisper from the past, a glint of ancient beauty reimagined for the present.
Like a bridge between intimate memory and contemporary form, Soft Witness is a design studio founded in 2023 by Whitney Krieger, based between New York and Florence. The studio embodies a sensitive, reflective approach to everyday objects, where each creation—be it lighting, furniture, or decor—becomes a silent narrative, a quiet witness to the moments that shape our lives.
Blending poetry with functionality, Soft Witness works closely with master artisans across Italy—glassblowers, metalworkers, and craftsmen—to produce objects that are not only beautiful but deeply meaningful. Their refined, avant-garde aesthetic draws inspiration from architecture, human nature, personal memory, and symbolism. The result is a sculptural collection of designs imbued with presence, sentiment, and soul—pieces meant to inhabit space gently, thoughtfully, and with emotional resonance.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.

The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
