Description
The choice of bamboo for this collection means a lot of hard physical work for the artisans, and is a living expression of their skills and precision.
To build the structure, the bamboo is dyed and cut into fine strips, which are then carefully woven by three different artisans along with the plastic strips.
Here the artisans use a mould to weave the lamps and give shape to the structure, which they then decorate with hexagonal and floral patterns.

A collaboration between Madrid-based designer Álvaro Catalán de Ocón and a group of artisans in the Colombian Amazon and beyond, the PET Lamp collection is a vibrant, soulful project that transforms trash into treasure. Each PET Lamp is one of a kind. The shades are created by hand from discarded plastic bottles that are cut into strips and interwoven with dyed and undyed palm tree fibers by artisans in South America. Catalán de Ocón then assembles the electrical sockets and colorful fabric cords in his studio in Spain. This unique PET Lamp Chandelier brings together 21 individual pieces in a joyous celebration of craft and color—a true knockout. The look is fantastic, and the story behind it is even better.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.
The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
