Description
Requiem Globe pendant is part of a limited edition designed by Lee Broom in its London workshop.
The collection takes inspiration from the marble drapery on ancient statues and sepulchral sculptures. Each piece appears weightless and fluid but is solid in form, made by hand-draping fabrics in plaster through and around illuminated glass.
These ghostly forms are then sculpted with more plaster into their final shape and set until solid. The effect is one of fragile drapery that appears to capture a floating light source with a globe shape. To celebrate the 15-year anniversary of Lee Broom, each of the four limited edition Requiem designs is limited to 15 pieces.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.

The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
