Description

Stone and metal, sculpted and shaped by expert craftsmen, give rise to an aesthetic based on the contrast between form and matter. The Rock Coffee Table features an inverted cone top made of distressed brass, set into a block of open-pore travertine marble. These two elements meet in a play of proportions and balance, reconfigured into a cantilever table with an asymmetrical design.

Founded in 2013 by Massimo Tonetto and Melissa Lunardi, Venicem creates lamps and furniture born from relentless stylistic research. This unique design vision emerges from a profound dialogue between primary shapes and materials.

Venicem's headquarters, located in an area where natural elements blend with a noble tradition of high-quality craftsmanship, are heavily influenced by their proximity to Venice. The company draws from the richness of this territory to experiment with materials, processes, and designs, thus realizing remarkable lighting and furnishing projects.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.

The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
