Description
The Roots pieces, with their very primitive look, are designed for the exterior from a single piece of solid teak. Scratches or even holes in the wood give them a special charm that makes each piece unique.
They can be used as bedside tables, side tables or coffee tables, alone or in combination, vertically or horizontally, to create configurations at will.
The designer was born in 1946 and is part of the most re-known Italian designers on an international level. Cazzaniga comes from Lissone, the heart of the most important district of furniture and was trained into his father's workshop, where he learned the secrets of handcraft work.
He then attended industrial drawing courses at the Castello Sforzesco, directed by teachers from the Polytechnic school of Milan.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.
The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
