Description
Designed to complement both a coffee table and a side table, the Sintra table reveals a refined dialogue between materials and textures. Its marble top, with a smooth and polished surface, reveals the subtle veins and mineral beauty of the stone, a true testament to time and nature. In contrast, its rounded cork base brings an airy lightness as well as surprising strength, highlighting the organic warmth of this material. Together, these elements shape a sculptural piece, both expressive and functional, where the poetry of the materials sublimates the simplicity of the forms.
Niels Stroyer Christophersen unveiled his first collection, The Permanent Collection, in October 2011 in Berlin, inaugurating a formal language imbued with timelessness, some of whose iconic pieces endure to this day. His approach, an organic and holistic approach, draws half of the creations from external collaborations, while the other half is crafted in-house, in order to preserve a deeply rooted aesthetic coherence. Through his works, he tirelessly defends essential values: simplicity, the nobility of natural materials, authentic craftsmanship, sustainability, and an aesthetic of enlightened sobriety, conveying meaning and emotion.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.

The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
