The Surface Sconce in Calacatta Marble is an ambient, sculptural light carved in two halves from solid stone. The European marble is made in Porto (Portugal). This clear calacatta marble's version of the surface sconce will add a soft and elegant atmosphere to the space of your choice. This version would fit perfectly a living room or a bedroom.

Each light is manufactured in natural stone, variations to the pattern and colour of the stone will occur from piece to piece.

Henry Wilson is an  based since 30 years in Sydney. His design style is inspired by utilitarianism and beauty imperfection.

The designer is mostly inspired by Australian's natural and urban landscapes and works closely with a local foundry for Bronze and aluminum manufacturing as well as with artisanal European stone workers.

Technical details :

Material : Calacatta marble.
Dimensions : 350 x 300 x 100 mm.
Light captured between two cast components. They are manufactured in small batches meaning slight variations will occur from piece to piece. Each piece is hand finished and includes a warranty.

The new series of light sculptures named Ambra combines volumes of ancient stones and aluminium. Centerpiece is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” stone that consists of minerals, glass and volcanic debris ejected one million years ago during severe eruptions. Fragments in the geometrical surfaces are testament to these explosions and movement.

The contrast between porous textures and smooth dark red underlines the studios contemporary approach on traditional materials and craft. The connecting components between the sculptural stone elements and the aluminium parts originate from an intensive research of linking unique handmade shapes with industrial parts.
